Five Found Dead – Sulari Gentill

Last year, I was lucky enough to read The Woman In The Library – and it made Sulari Gentill an automatic must-read author for me. So, you can only imagine my delight when Ultimo Press sent through a copy of her latest, Five Found Dead, for me to read and review.

Five Found Dead is another delightfully meta mystery with an Agatha Christie twist: a crime fiction writer and his sister investigate a murder that takes place on board the Orient Express. The cabin next to theirs’ is covered in blood, but there’s no body – then, the steward assigned to guard the crime scene turns up dead, too. And that’s just the beginning! As the title suggests, there are more bodies to come.

It’s sharp, it’s funny, and it’s fun – any worries you might have about Sulari Gentill not living up to the standard of her previous novels are totally unfounded. She remains the reigning queen of the metafictional mystery-thriller. Five Found Dead kept me guessing all the way to the very end, and I heartily recommend it to any and all mystery fans.
